Finding the right daycare center is one of the most critical decisions any parent will ever make. Sure, location and price are important. But safety is paramount.
The NYC Daycare Finder gives parents not only a quick, handy way to locate licensed daycare providers closest to their home or office – but offers a potent tool to help them make an informed decision.
The app, using a New York City Department of Health and Mental Services database, allows parents, with a click, to pull up any open or past violations a given center might have.
The NYC Day Care Finder also provides valuable context in describing the range of seriousness of violations. The app offers the ability to filter, save, and print searches, helping users compare centers when making one of the most important choices of their child’s life.
We built the app to give the public instant access to this information, which, while available online, isn’t presented in an easily accessible form. Our goal is to create a consumer safety tool for busy parents on-the-go. The app, with its simple, easy-to-use interface, helps parents navigate what can be a daunting and complex process.
The app will help NYC parents narrow their daycare choices even before they visit, saving time and effort. Most importantly, the NYC Day Care Finder allows parents to make a better-informed decision before leaving their child in the hands of strangers.
Parents want to do the best they can for their children. The NYC Day Care Finder offers a new tool to help protect our families.
